The casualty increase coincided with remarks from Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who stated that the war had revealed the vulnerabilities of U.S. military installations throughout the Middle East. Khamenei further asserted that the region would no longer serve as a “shield” for American bases. “America, in addition to no longer having a safe place for aggression and military bases in the region, is moving further away from its former status day by day,” he declared.
