This operation took place just days after Donald Trump was inaugurated for a second term. Gorka, then serving as the senior counterterrorism director on Trump’s National Security Council, entered the Oval Office with National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and a colleague to brief Trump about a man in Somalia linked to ISIS.
“Sir, ISIS leader, killed Americans, planning to kill more Americans,” Gorka summarized their intelligence briefing for the president. He recalled that Trump responded decisively, demanding, “What do you mean, we’ve been watching him?
