Eagles Acquire RB Bigsby From Jaguars in Trade

24 DAILY NEWS – Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby has been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending Super Bowl champions, according to sources familiar with the deal.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby was traded to the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles Monday for two 2026 late-round draft picks, a person familiar with negotiations said.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.

Bigsby’s Departure

As 24 DAILY NEWS has learned, Bigsby’s position within the Jaguars became less secure after the team selected Bhayshul Tuten from Virginia Tech in the fourth round of the draft. Tuten has reportedly demonstrated the potential to eventually assume a leading role for the team, potentially as soon as next season.

Bigsby was already available for trade when Philadelphia expressed interest. The Eagles parted with fifth- and sixth-round draft selections in 2026 to secure Bigsby’s services.

Eagles’ Need for a Backup

Philadelphia’s acquisition of Bigsby addresses the need for a backup to star running back Saquon Barkley. Will Shipley sustained a rib injury during a kickoff return in the season opener, highlighting the team’s vulnerability at the position.

Bigsby, a 2023 third-round pick from Auburn, accumulated 910 rushing yards and nine touchdowns over two seasons. Despite these statistics, his performance in pass-catching and blitz pickups has been less consistent, as 24 DAILY NEWS has previously reported.

He recorded five carries for 12 yards in the Jaguars’ opening game against Carolina on Sunday. During that game, Travis Etienne gained 143 yards on 16 carries. Tuten also received three carries, and seventh-round pick LeQuint Allen from Syracuse has been designated as the team’s third-down back.
