24 DAILY NEWS – The majority of immigration arrests made by federal agents during President Donald Trump’s enforcement surge in Minnesota last winter were of individuals with no criminal background, according to an analysis by The Intercept based on newly revealed government data.
The findings challenge a common narrative circulated by the White House pertaining to the operation, which emphasized that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were apprehending thousands of “dangerous criminal illegal aliens.” From December 2025 to mid-March 2026, ICE made 4,030 arrests in Minnesota, with 2,532 of those, or 63 percent, involving individuals with no criminal convictions or pending charges, according to previously unreported data.
