24 DAILY NEWS – In a controversial move, President Donald Trump’s Justice Department announced the establishment of a $1.776 billion fund, purportedly aimed at compensating Trump loyalists. This development follows a decision to drop a lawsuit against the IRS regarding the alleged leak of Trump’s tax returns.
The suit, initially seen as a clear conflict of interest with Trump’s Justice Department suing his own IRS, has attracted criticism, particularly from House Democrats who authored an amicus brief urging the judge to dismiss the case. They expressed concerns that any settlement would represent “a specter of corruption unparalleled in American history.”
### Withdrawal and New Fund
Before a judicial response could be issued, Trump withdrew the lawsuit and redirected efforts to create a fund lacking substantial judicial or congressional oversight. Dubbed the “anti-weaponization” fund, it is intended to provide compensation to Trump allies who claim to have faced targeting by the Biden administration.
The irony of this initiative, viewed by many as a governmental manipulation akin to previous actions
