24 DAILY NEWS – Republican Representative Thomas Massie suffered a defeat in his Kentucky primary election on Tuesday, which is widely viewed as a referendum on Donald Trump. This outcome underscores the significant influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Republican politics.
AIPAC’s super political action committee, along with two other groups financed by pro-Israel donors, contributed over $15.8 million to either oppose Massie or support his challenger, former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, according to Federal Election Commission reports.
### Campaign Spending Breakdown
Despite the substantial financial backing against him, Massie’s defeat is partly attributed to Trump’s animosity towards him. This race has emerged as the most expensive House primary election in history, with total spending surpassing $32 million—outpacing the 2024 New York Democratic primary in which AIPAC’s super PAC assisted George Latimer in defeating then-Representative Jamaal Bowman.
