24 DAILY NEWS – The trial of Renea Gamble commenced with a twist when Marcus McDowell, the city attorney for Fairhope, Alabama, unexpectedly called a surprise witness after nearly two hours of proceedings. He pointed to a long-haired man in red, later identified as Gamble’s husband, 63-year-old Larry Fletcher.
Gamble’s defense attorney objected, citing a lack of prior notice. Nonetheless, Fletcher approached the stand. He was present during Gamble’s arrest at a No Kings protest in October 2025, where she donned a 7-foot inflatable penis costume and held a sign reading “No Dick Tator.” The incident gained viral attention, transforming Gamble into a local free speech advocate, but instead of dropping the misdemeanor charges against her, McDowell escalated them, including an accusation of providing a false name to law enforcement by identifying herself as “Aunt Tifa.”
