24 DAILY NEWS – A seventeen-second video depicts Matt Little, a former mayor and state senator from Lakeville, rapping his knuckles lightly against the tinted windows of a silver minivan. Clad in a puffer coat and donning a serious expression, Little stands back as the car drives away, the camera following it down a suburban Minneapolis street. The caption reads, “ICE was circling a local elementary school. I knocked on their door to have a conversation, but they ran away instead.”
As the front-runner to replace Democratic Rep. Angie Craig in Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District, Little is centering his campaign on immigration, a highly contentious issue in the Twin Cities. Under the banner “GET ICE OUT,” he shares videos of his encounters with immigration enforcement agents and protests on social media. He stated in January, “When I’m elected to congress, we will hold ICE accountable.” However, skepticism abounds among some constituents.
