24 DAILY NEWS – More than three decades after being arrested for a capital crime that he has always maintained he did not commit, former death row inmate Richard Glossip has been granted bond by an Oklahoma judge, paving the way for his potential release.
In an order issued on Thursday, Oklahoma County District Judge Natalie Mai set Glossip’s bond at $500,000. As conditions of his release, he will be required to live with his wife, wear an electronic monitoring device, and observe a curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. He is also prohibited from traveling outside the state.
“We are extremely grateful that Judge Natalie Mai has granted Richard Glossip a bond,” stated Glossip’s longtime attorney, Don Knight. “In doing so, she rejected the State’s claim that there is a strong case for guilt. For the first time in 29 years, Mr. Glossip now has the chance to taste freedom while his defense team continues to pursue justice on his behalf.”
